SENLIMA

SENLIMA - A JOURNEY WITHOUT LIMITS
A collaboration between Retrofuturisten (Berlin) and Papermoon Puppet Theatre (Yogyakarta / Indonesia)

A theatre piece combining puppetry, animation, and video, created by Papermoon (Indonesia) and Retrofuturisten of Germany, Senlima was performed in Indonesia, Italy, and Germany. The performance explores borders, in both the outside world and inside of ourselves, as an older man goes out on a quest to find his beloved lost bird.

Premiere: October 1st, 2015 in Yogyakarta (IND) as part of the “German Season” organized by the Goethe Institute

„SENLIMA is […] a deeply moving experience: from the sheer setup of the stage and the excellent production and handling of the puppets, to the poignant story and the important key message.“

SENLIMA got invitated to Literature Festival Jakarta | Incanti Festival Turin (IT) | Puppet Theater Festival Constance Germany | FIDENA Festival, Bochum | Schaubude Berlin as part of the showcase week "Jalan-Jalan"

With ‘Senlima’ the audience of the Fidena Festival experienced [...] an impressive piece about freedom. ‘Senlima’ - Esperanto for ‘without borders’ - is not only the result of fruitful cooperation across all borders. The play needs no language and with a pinch of wit it overcomes the boundaries of artistic fields, that’s probably the most astonishing thing about this co-production.
